YOUR NEXT USEFUL STEP
Choose two discovery channels and a set of target employers. Track unique relevant roles rather than the number of tabs open.
Define the market before selecting the portal
Choosing job portals by country starts with knowing what you mean by country. The employer’s headquarters, the vacancy location and your intended working location can differ. Decide whether you want a local onsite role, a hybrid role within commuting distance or remote work from a particular country. That decision changes the useful search filters.
Write one role query with a few truthful skill aliases. Start narrow enough to recognise relevant results, then expand if needed. Searching every market at once can hide practical restrictions and produce many repeated listings. A manageable set of suitable roles is more actionable than a large count you cannot meaningfully review.
Build a mix of discovery channels
Local portals may surface employers and terminology that differ from broad international boards. Specialist communities and employer career pages add another view. Treat these as complementary discovery channels rather than assuming a portal is the complete market. Access methods and available filters can also change over time.
In India, Naukri and other local boards are examples to investigate alongside LinkedIn and employer sites. In other markets, first inspect the country-specific version of a board and its location filters. Verify current access and relevance yourself. A directory entry is a research lead, not a claim that a connector is active or that the site is the most popular.
Keep a small, consistent record
For each promising result, record the employer, role title, location, source link and any requisition identifier. Add the source-provided date if available and keep your discovery time separate. Note whether the employer confirms that your intended working country is acceptable. This record makes comparisons much easier the following day.
When the same role appears in more than one channel, compare identifiers and original pages before counting it twice. Similar wording alone is insufficient to merge two opportunities. A company can recruit the same title for different teams or locations. Keep the version that best preserves the original detail and source history.
- Use a local market query and a remote query separately.
- Review employer career pages for your strongest targets.
- Recheck unknown eligibility before a lengthy application.
- Record a source failure separately from zero results.
Review the search mix each week
Ask which channel produced suitable, unique roles and which produced mostly duplicates or unsuitable locations. Refine a query before adding ten more portals. Measure the quality of the opportunities you can act on, not just the number of results returned. Keep a short note about why a role was worth pursuing.
The ResumeSkillMatch source directory contains planning leads for 50 markets. Those leads are not 50 connected scrapers. Live coverage must be established source by source, with permitted access, useful fields and real result checks. Use the directory to guide exploration while checking the current connector status in the app.
